The Last Days
In the last days, God says that He will pour out His Spirit on all people.
Our sons and daughters will prophesy, our young men will see visions, our old men will dream dreams. (Acts 2:17)
In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.
He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths." (Isaiah 2:2-3)
In the last days, many will be brought to God, as part of the great harvest of souls, as we remember the Source of where we came and where we are to return.
Covenant Renewal
God tells us to remember the decrees and laws He gave His servant Moses at Horeb for all Israel.
He will send the prophet Elijah to us before that great and dreadful day comes.
He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else He will come and strike the land with total destruction. (Malachi 4:4-6)
In that day God will bless Egypt His people, Assyria His handiwork and Israel His inheritance. (Isaiah 19:25)
Throughout the bible God tells us to return to Him and He will return to us and that as surely as He lives, every knee will bow before Him; every tongue will acknowledge God. (Romans 14:11)
The Man of Lawlessness
The day of the LORD will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.
He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshipped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
The Lord Jesus will overthrow the lawless one with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming.
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works.
He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-10)
Prophecies Against Nations
Isaiah foretells various prophecies against nations (Isaiah 13 to 23), each nation ear-marked for destruction as a result of their sin.
Babylon relates to wealth that comes from wickedness and the pride and arrogance that goes with that, Moab was prideful, arrogant, conceited and insolent and Damascus looked to idols and had forgotten God their Saviour, Rock and fortress.
Cush was an aggressive nation that people feared, Egypt consulted idols and the spirits of the dead and Jerusalem did not look to God as the source of all blessings.
God designed us to look to Him for everything, we were made in His image and likeness and are part of Him, we cannot be separated, we are one.
God is the Creator and Source of everything, all praise is His, but instead, we believe in the work of our own hands and everything has become perverted, inverted and corrupted.
A Call To Repentance
No longer servants of the LORD, we are under the Assyrian yoke of oppression, having been lured away from Godliness by Babylon the great prostitute, with who the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants were intoxicated with the wine. (Revelation 17:1-2)
While it is a time of judgment, it is also a call for all nations to acknowledge God's sovereignty and turn from wickedness.
"Even now," declares the LORD, "return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning."
Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity. (Joel 2:12-13)
Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished. (Numbers 14:18)
Return To God & He Will Return To Us
God's instruction is very clear, with real understanding only to be found by studying scripture, renewing our mind and seeking to love and honour God with everything we have.
There are only two ways, right and wrong, good and evil, light and dark, blessing and curse, God's commands are black and white, there is no grey.
When we and our children return to God and obey Him with all our heart and with all our soul according to everything He commands us, then He will restore our fortunes and have compassion on us. (Deuteronomy 30:1-3)
It's really very simple, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. (Romans 6:23)
Let us take to heart all the blessings and curses that come upon us, understanding our failings, correcting our mistakes and returning to the LORD, that we may live in blessing all the days of our life, amen.
