Prophetic Dream 14th July, 2023

The topic for this post begins with a dream I had where an ex from over 15 years ago, and what feels like another lifetime ago, came to tell me that he had made the decision to be with me forever.

At one time, I believed him to be the man of my dreams, but whilst I loved him with every fibre of my being, I knew in my heart that we weren't right for each other, and I left him.

In my dream, I asked him why he had come to this decision and whilst he gave me the answer, I couldn't remember it as I didn't write it down quickly enough.

Later that morning, I kept hearing the words 'the song of your inheritance', playing over and over in my spirit, and I knew that was the reason he had given me for his return.

And so I got to thinking about our inheritance in God, and what that means and the meaning of the return of a lover you had chosen to remove from your life.

What's In A Name?

In Romeo and Juliet, the famous play by William Shakespeare, Juliet asks, "What's in a name?" to express that a name is just a label and doesn't define a person's essence or worth.

She uses the example of a rose, arguing that it would still smell sweet even if it were called by a different name.

But the bible says otherwise and every name carries great meaning, significance and weight, as a memorial of things past or a foretelling of things to come.

Our personal name is the first indication of our inheritance and much wisdom is to be gained through understanding more.

I have 5 names to draw from, and when I looked into the meaning of each, I was astonished to discover the relevance to my life and this strengthened me.

Our Name As A Foretelling

My English name Amanda means worthy of love, and whilst I battled in my younger years with deep-seated feelings of unworthiness, as I matured, I came to appreciate and grow into my unique beauty.

My Hebrew name, spelled Malka Bayla in English, means Beautiful (Bayla) Queen (Malka), a name which took me a long time to grow into and which I am still yet to step into fully.

My surname, Lazare means God is my helper.

The name I was lead to use for professional purposes, Lighthouse, is a beacon of light and hope that is built into rocks to withstand the wind and storms, and provides safe passage.

And the name that God gave me in 2021, known only to me, means Holy or Divine and also God's celebration - wow!!!

Called By A New Name

God says through the prophet Isaiah that we will be called by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will bestow.

We will be a crown of splendour in the LORD's hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God. (Isaiah 62:2-3)

This shows the depth and breadth of God's love for us, we are precious and honoured in His sight and He loves us. (Isaiah 43:4)

Jesus says that to the one who is victorious in repenting from false teachings, He will give some of the hidden manna (our inheritance in him) and a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. (Revelation 2:17)

This is deeply fascinating and for those who are called, creates a hunger to know more, and I wonder if this includes a second chance at love.

God's Divine Light & Love

Prior to receiving this Word, I found myself drawn to a very large canvas print of a famous mosaic of Jesus, the original of which is located in the Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom), the principal church of the Byzantine Empire in Constantinople (later Istanbul), and a mosque after the Ottoman Empire conquered the city in 1453.

In it, he is holding a Greek script which translates to ‘’Peace be upon you. I am the light of the world.’’

The interior of the Hagia Sophia is designed around the light, using magnification and reflection for emphasis, acres of glittering gold coat key parts of it and the entire building is based on divine principles.

In the 6th century, Paul the Silentiary described the phenomenon of the magnificent fluted central dome which is covered in gold and encircled by forty windows, as a channel through which “a glittering stream of golden rays pours abundantly and strikes men’s eyes with irresistible force”.

As you step into the church, you are bathed in light, and this illumination is meant to convey the light and Presence of God.

The Song of My Inheritance

Growing up I believed that I would never find anyone who truly loved me, yet I have come to realise that my names and my inheritance from God, say otherwise.

I am worthy of love (Amanda).

I am a Beautiful Queen (Malka Bayla).

God is my helper (Lazare).

I am a Lighthouse.

I am holy and divine and God celebrates me and shines His light upon me, filling me, enveloping me and bathing me in His irresistible love.

Let us therefore dive deeper and explore the song of our inheritance with great gusto and excitement!

Our God Given Inheritance

We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and God’s special possession. (1 Peter 2:9)

We were made a little lower than the angels and crowned with glory and honour. (Psalm 8:5, Hebrews 2:7)

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him. (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)

Ours (the people of Israel) is the adoption to sonship, the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship, the promises, the patriarchs and the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all. (Romans 9:4-5)

Gratitude For The Goodness of God

Everything we have is GIVEN to us by God.

For from him and through him and for him are all things.

To him be the glory forever!

Amen. (Romans 11:36)

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. (2 Peter 1:3)

Favour & Honour

For those who find me find life and receive favour from the LORD. (Proverbs 8:35)

Whoever seeks good finds favour (Proverbs 11:27) and the Lord blesses the righteous and surrounds them with His favour as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12)

For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. (Psalm 84:11)

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3:3-4)

Created For God's Glory

We are made in God's image.

Those of us who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

Everyone who is called by His name, He created for His glory, and He formed and made them. (Isaiah 43:7)

He has refined us and has tested us in the furnace of affliction for His own sake so that He will not be defamed or yield His glory to another. (Isaiah 48:10-11)

We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)

Everlasting Covenant Blessings

Our inheritance is given to us by God through his covenants, which are everlasting.

God made His covenants with righteous men, their descendants after them, and all life on the earth, for all generations to come.

God's covenants were preceded by a blessing and were binding agreements that were to be kept by both sides, with terms that He very clearly laid out.

God marked His covenants with a sign (the rainbow, circumcision and the Sabbath) that served as a reminder to both Him and man.

If our earthly father gave us an inheritance as a result of His good works, it is only right that we are grateful and humbled and sing his praises for the glorious gift that He bestowed on us.

A Treasured Possession

God told Moses to tell the descendants of Jacob that they themselves had seen what He did to Egypt, and how He carried them on eagles’ wings and brought them to Himself.

Now if we obey Him fully and keep His covenant, then out of all nations, we would be His treasured possession.

Although the whole earth is God's, we will be for Him a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. (Exodus 19:3-6)

We are to be holy to God because the Lord is holy, and He has set us apart from the nations to be His own. (Leviticus 20:26)

He has declared that He will set us in praise, fame and honour high above all the nations He has made and that we will be a people holy to the Lord our God, as He promised. (Deuteronomy 26:19)

Summoned By Name

We are encouraged, comforted and urged to live lives worthy of God, who calls us into his kingdom and glory (1 Thessalonians 2:11), by faith, like Abraham, even though we do not know where we are going. (Hebrews 11:9)

We are chosen that we may declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9) and we are to proclaim God's glory among the nations. (Isaiah 66:19)

For the sake of Jacob His servant, of Israel His chosen, God summons us by name and bestows on us a title of honour, though we do not acknowledge Him. (Isaiah 45:4)

As chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special and treasured possession who are set in praise, fame and honour high above all the other nations, summoned by name, with a title of honour, surely our song of inheritance in the Lord is glorious?!

May the eyes of our heart be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which He has called us, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparable great power for us who believe. (Ephesians 1:18-19)

Gifts From God

An inheritance is the practice of receiving something that has been bestowed upon us as a gift, in biblical terms, inheritances were commanded, promised and bestowed on those who love God, making their treasuries full. (Proverbs 8:21)

The key word here is gift, it is not free, and comes at a great cost to those who worked hard to claim it.

This can include property, land, seed, vines, crops, rain, titles, tithes, money, items of value, debts, privileges, rights, obligations, blessings, curses, people, nations and even God Himself.

And there are multiple inheritances we could be blessed enough to receive - an earthly inheritance from our family, our inheritance from the LORD, the inheritance of the Holy Spirit, wisdom which is like an inheritance (Ecclesiastes 7:11) and God's heavenly inheritance when we are raised up.

An inheritance is a blessing from God, and therefore a deep debt of gratitude is owed and praise given to the One whose mighty Power provided and paved the way.

The LORD's Portion

The Israelites are God's people, His portion, His own allotted inheritance (Deuteronomy 32:9) that He redeemed by His great power and brought out of Egypt with His mighty hand and outstretched arm. (Deuteronomy 9:26-29)

God refreshed His weary inheritance (Psalm 68:9), He anoints rulers over them (1 Samuel 10:1) and from tending the sheep, He brought David to be their shepherd. (Psalm 78:71)

David asks God to save His people and bless His inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever (Psalm 28:9), shepherd His people with His staff, the flock of His inheritance. (Micah 7:14)

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He chose for His inheritance. (Psalm 33:12)

The LORD will not reject His people; He will never forsake His inheritance (Psalm 94:14) and He will uproot anyone who seizes the inheritance He gave His people Israel. (Jeremiah 12:14)

Eternal Land Inheritance

God remembered His servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom He swore by His own self, to make their descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and give them all the land He promised, as their inheritance forever. (Exodus 32:13)

God gave them a land flowing with milk and honey, overthrowing the land of 7 nations in Canaan (Acts 13:19) greater and stronger than them, because He set them apart. (Leviticus 20:24)

Land was allotted to them based on the number of names in each group, assigned by trusted individuals elected by God (Numbers 34:17) and distributed by lot. (Numbers 26:53-56, 33:54)

Boundaries were assigned (Numbers 34:2) and the neighbours boundary stone set up by their predecessors were not to be moved. (Deuteronomy 19:14)

The land that was given was sacred and they were not to desecrate it (Deuteronomy 21:23) or bring sin upon it. (Deuteronomy 24:4)

God As An Inheritance

The Levites had no inheritance in the land of the Israelites, nor would they have any share among them, God is their share and their inheritance. (Numbers 18:20)

God gave to the Levites all the tithes (food offerings) in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they did while serving at the tent of meeting. (Numbers 18:21)

In addition, the Israelites were commanded to give the Levites towns to live in, and pasturelands around the towns (Numbers 35:2) in proportion to the inheritance of each tribe, many from many and few from few. (Numbers 35:8)

We are committed to God and to the word of His grace, which can build us up and give us an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. (Acts 20:32)

In our own power and might we can do nothing, only by God's Spirit, by the grace given to us, according to His will.  (Zechariah 4:6, John 5:30)

The Conditions of An Inheritance

An inheritance is conditional, it is a privilege not a right and it comes with obligations so that not one of God's people was to be separated from their property. (Ezekiel 46:16-18)

God told the Israelites to be careful to follow all His commands, that they may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to their descendants forever. (1 Chronicles 28:8)

God will forsake the remnant of His inheritance and give them into the hands of enemies if they are disobedient. (2 Kings 21:14)

The blameless spend their days under the LORD's care, and their inheritance will endure forever. (Psalm 37:18)

Ultimately, the earth is the LORD's and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it (Psalm 24:1); and we must honour it in accordance with His instruction.

Honouring Our Inheritance

God Himself said how gladly He would treat us like His children and give us a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of any nation.

He thought we would call Him 'Father' and not turn away from following Him.

But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so Israel has been unfaithful to Him, God declared. (Jeremiah 3:19-20)

We are to rejoice in our inheritance and everlasting joy will be ours. (Isaiah 61:7)

We are to praise His holy name and honour what we have freely given by taking some of the first fruits of all we produce from the soil to the LORD's house as a tithe. (Deuteronomy 26:1-3)

The Righteous & The Wicked

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on His glorious throne.

All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

He will put the sheep on his right (the righteous to eternal life) and the goats on his left (the wicked to eternal punishment).

Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. (Matthew 25:31-46)

The Kingdom of Light

When we believe, we are marked in Christ with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession - to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14)

No immoral, impure or greedy person - such a person is an idolater - has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (Ephesians 5:5)

Whatever we do, we must work at it with all our heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since we know that we will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward, as it is the Lord Christ we are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24)

May God fill us with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that we may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that we may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light. (Colossians 1:9-12)

Praise be to God, who in His great mercy, has given us new birth into a living hope and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade, that is kept in heaven for us, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5)
